MAT Video 1

This video was designed to show both my journey as a father and who I believe most needs the help to "Bridge the College Gap". The following steps were used to create the video:

  • I developed a concept of showing my return home from the Army and my transition into a civic leader.
  • I filmed my son demonstrating his skill in "free-running" and driving a manual transmission.
  • I also filmed transition shots to illustrate my journey.
  • I selected music and still photos that complemented my video concept.
  • Then it was time to move to Windows Movie Maker.
  • I edited the video and arranged the photos.
  • I then added transitions, overlays, titles, and credits.
  • I placed down a music track, and added narration to define the journey.
  • Finally, I rendered the film and uploaded it to Youtube.

Video can be used to help a student improve their instructing style:

1. The creation of a video is a great way for students to get their hands on subject matter.
2. A video is a fun way to present material in a new way.
3. An edited lecture uploaded on Youtube gives an absent student an opportunity to get the same information as their peers.
4. In adult education a well tailored video can be used to train subject matter to geographically separated students.
5. A video can save an adult educator's time by providing information on repetitive subjects that do not need interaction.
